2009 - 2010 Historic Dinner and Lecture Series - Join The Tesoro Cultural Center for the 2009-2010 Lecture Series featuring an exciting lineup of historians, authors and professors who delve into life in the Early West. A delicious dinner inspired by the foods of the 19th century will follow each lecture. For the first time, The Tesoro Cultural Center will have five daytime lectures that will include coffee and muffins.
10th Annual Indian Market and Powwow - Join The Tesoro Cultural Center at the Tenth Annual Indian Market and Powwow where award winning Native American artists will show their wares and demonstrate their crafts. Respected experts in the field will judge art submitted by the premier Native American artists in the country. Artists will share their arts and crafts with visitors throughout the day in impromptu and planned demonstrations. A contest Powwow will fill the valley below The Fort on Saturday and Sunday. Dancers and drummers will share their heritage in competitions of Traditional, Shawl, Fancy, Grass and Jingle dancing. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the traditional dances and regalia while watching the brilliant display of

9th Annual 1830's Rendezvous & Spanish Colonial Market at The Fort - The Rendezvous will also host the Annual Spanish Colonial Art show, a juried show with Colorado and New Mexico’s most celebrated Spanish colonial artists demonstrating their techniques and selling their work. Famous artists such as Charlie Carrillo, Catherine Robles Shaw, Jimmy Trujillo, Teresa Duran, and Jose Esquibel are just a few mentioned of the celebrated artists demonstrating and selling their retablos, bultos, tin work and encrusted straw appliqué.
See the colorful Mountain Men and Women trappers and traders selling their wares including buckskin period dress, trade silver, flintlock guns, and beaver skin hats. There will be the authentic 1830's Rendezvous encampment, complete with traditional mountain man competitions including the tomahawk throw, a black powder shoot and a burro race. Bring your kids into the Lakota Teepee where there will be face painting, and an interactive wampum bead making table for kids to make his/her own necklaces. Adults and children can interact with 1830’s era interpreters, listen to educational speakers and participate in hands-on educational activities designed to learn about the rich culture and way of life in the Early West.
The public is welcome to enjoy, food, music, fun all weekend long.

Night The Stars Fell - The Tesoro Cultural Center will commemorate the night of November 13, 1833 when thousands of meteors showered the sky over North America. The Denver Astronomical Society will bring telescopes to The Fort’s courtyard, giving visitors a tour of the heavens. Viewing is free to the public from 8:30 to 9:30 (weather permitting).
